Thursday, June 9th, before we went to see Havyn for the last time on that trip, Bisrat, our translator took another adoptive Mom and I on a walk to see all of the Ethiopian Guest Homes (see picture above)(http://www.ethiopiaguesthome.com/). This is where we stayed while in Ethiopia. Check out their website!
Anyway, while we were taking a walk we noticed that a little boy, of about 10 years old, was following us. He went everywhere that we went, and at first, tried to stay discreet. But we noticed.
We looked back at him a couple of times, and he smiled the biggest smile he had. It was a beautiful, warm smile. Finally, I stopped, turned to him and asked him his name. He smiled again and said, "Marcos". I put my arm around him, and told him that he could walk with us. He did, and didn't stop smiling.
I had nothing with me to give to him, except to smile back and put my arm around him. I hated that I had nothing more to give to him. I didn't take a picture of him, because I didn't want to ask him for something..a picture, when I had nothing. I have thought of him several times since our trip. Today, as I was praying, God brought him again to my mind. And with tears, I prayed for Marcos. His smile is forever imprinted on my heart. When I go back, I am taking something for Marcos, and I hope that he sees me and follows me again. Only God could accomplish that....
