Davids. I spent Tuesday night weeping before the Lord, crying out to Him on behalf of this almost 16 year old boy. This boy spent much of his life in an orphanage. He was picked on by the other kids, because he was small. He came to America for about 6 weeks, and experienced family life, American life, and life with Jesus. He went back with an expectation and hope to be adopted by an American family who committed to adopt him and then he waited...and waited...and waited. Nothing happened. Had he been forgotten and rejected once more? Now two weeks before his 16th birthday, he began to feel hopeless, and he had good reason. The family who said that they would adopt him changed their minds. (Please note that I do not know this family's reasons or intentions, so I will not place judgement on them. God knows their hearts.) The situation was dire. At 16 years old, orphans in Latvia (and most Eastern European Nations), are sent out of the orphanage. They are on their own...alone. Though life in an orphanage is very far from ideal, they at least have a place to lay their heads at night; they have some food each day; and they have some security. That was all about to change for Davids. His dreams of being adopted would be over. He would have to try to make it in this frightening world alone. He is still a child...A child who needs a Mommy and Daddy.
Tuesday night I sat here in my comfortable house, at my computer, and read Davids story and I wept. The truth is, hundreds of orphans are turned out of the orphanage, at age 16, each day. I ache for them, and often cry out to God to protect those faceless, nameless children. However, on Tuesday night, as I stared at Davids picture and looked into his eyes, and as I imagined his fear and despondency, the voices of those faceless, nameless children began screaming in my heart.
There must have been hundreds and hundreds of people praying for Davids. Greg and I could not stop praying. Even my sweet boys, Jachin & Josiah, were praying for him to get a mommy and daddy. I am reminded once more never to underestimate the importance of God's people praying. There have been several times over the past 10 years that I have seen God take a seemingly hopeless situation, and show everyone that He and He alone works miracles. A family did come forward to adopt Davids. I encourage you to go here to hear the whole story (or at least what they are able to say right now)...and follow Davids story of redemption. There is no doubt in my mind that God has a plan for dear Davids....nope, no doubt! If you are able to give, even a small amount, please help this family bring THEIR SON home. You can donate on the blog that you are directed to above. (BTW, that blogger is the one who hosted him while he was in the USA)
Adding this after post was written - Davids adoptive family just started a blog - Here is their blog address http://kilgore6.blogspot.com/
