Sweet, beautiful Havyn is 6 months old today. There is no fanfare. I doubt that anyone even notices this milestone in her life. But someday she will read this, and she will know that I noticed. She will know that I whispered to her picture… “Happy Birthday; I love you!”
As I think about my Havyn and long to celebrate all milestones with her, I can’t help but think about how many children’s birthdays go unnoticed. How many children sit alone day after day and never hear, “Happy Birthday, I love you”. No one notices them. No one celebrates them. They are alone. It doesn’t have to be this way. God is calling us to them. God is calling you to them. Do the numbers overwhelm you so that you feel like you can’t make a difference? That is a lie from Satan! You can make a difference to a child. The numbers are overwhelming, but let’s make it “one less”. One less child that “celebrates” their birthday alone. One less baby who learns to walk, with no one cheering them on. One less teenager who ages out of the system and walks the streets alone. One less little boy with no Daddy to want to be like. One less little girl with no Mommy to lovingly fix her hair and tell her she’s beautiful.
One less, friends. That’s what we strive for, and it is attainable!
So, back to Havyn…..Havyn, today I am praying that someone notices, and kisses your cheeks. I am praying that someone looks at you and smiles, and that you smile back and feel loved. I am praying that you will be able to celebrate your one year birthday at home, with your family. God is able! He can move these mountains. He is sovereign over all these things, and He loves you so much!
Such a sweet and touching post! I know God is sending your kisses to her. Can't wait until you can bring her home.
